What is a Travel Plan?
A Travel Plan is the name given to a suite of measures to encourage people to make more sustainable travel choices, either on the commute to work, on business travel, on the school run...or even just on a trip to the shops.
A Travel Plan provides a strategy for organisations to reduce their transportation impacts and to influence the travel behaviour of employees, suppliers, visitors and customers.
The Travel Plan should establish a strategy comprising clear policy, objectives and targets, supported by a suite of measures, or actions, for implementation.
Historically, Travel Plans have provided a wide range of measures to achieve a reduction in car use and, in particular, a reduction in single occupancy car journeys for both commuting and business travel.
With YETI, we are seeking to establish a new generation of Travel Plans to reduce CO2 emissions from travel.
A key element of all Travel Plans is the requirement to maintain the cyclical process of travel planning, that is, 'plan, implement, check, review and continually improve', or, in other words:
Measure. Monitor. Minimise.
