Zero carbon in Cambridge

Transport Planners, JMP Consulting, are currently assisting a developer client to build a case for a residential development at a site in Cambridge.

The vision for the development is a zero carbon community, and JMP is appointed to provide transportation and masterplan support as the scheme develops.

Early in the process it was agreed that, in order to promote a truly innovative and sustainable development solution, the resulting transportation demands of the development should be considered in the carbon analysis.

JMP's transport planning team has identified suitable transport measures that can be taken forward as the strategy for the site develops to minimise the carbon consequences of transport and traffic arising from the proposed development. These include potential measures to improve public transport accessibility through to innovative proposals for development planning conditions on the parking supply to promote uptake of alternatively-fuelled vehicles by occupants.
